Abdul Naser Hemmati, Governor General of the Central Bank, announced a slight decrease in point-to-point inflation in September and announced that this index has reached 83.8% in September from 84.4% in September after 15 months of increasing trend.
According to Hemmati’s explanation, inflation in September was recorded at 3.9%. Pointing out that inflation in the range of four percent per month is still considered a high figure, he emphasized that despite the pressures caused by war, embargo, blockade and inflationary expectations resulting from these conditions, measures have been taken to reduce the rate of inflation growth.
The Governor General of the Central Bank mentioned the control of liquidity growth as one of the measures taken in this regard and said that the acceleration of inflation, which had increased greatly in the early months of the year, has now decreased significantly and the efforts of the Central Bank are focused on continuing this trend and further reducing inflation.
Hemmati also mentioned the trend of point-to-point inflation in the last 15 months. According to him, this index had been on an increasing path since the 12-day war and reached 84.4% in August, but this trend changed in September of this year and spot inflation decreased to 83.8%.
The Governor General of the Central Bank emphasized that although the amount of this decrease is not very high, it is important to change the direction of inflation from point to point and start its downward trend.
